Top 3 reasons families switch to REAL School after the start of the school year

20 September 2024

As parents, your child’s happiness, well-being, and sense of security are top priorities. When families realise their current school isn’t meeting these needs, they start looking for a better fit.

We asked our families why they had switched to REAL School at the beginning of the school year. This is what they said:

1. My child was unhappy

Parents know when their child isn’t excited about school. When your child doesn’t want to go to school in the morning or seems down at the end of the day, it’s a sign that something isn’t right.

At REAL School, we strive to create an environment where children feel enthusiastic about their day.

Our approach encourages hands-on projects, real-world problem-solving, and activities that spark their natural curiosity and respect each child’s current developmental stage and pace. The goal is for students to feel engaged and connected, so going to school becomes something they look forward to.

2. My child felt unsafe

No parent wants to hear that their child feels unsafe at school. Whether it’s due to bullying, feeling left out, or lacking the right emotional support. It's a worry that can weigh heavily on families.

At REAL School, we take these concerns seriously. We create a close-knit, caring community where children are looked after, both emotionally and physically.

Our smaller class sizes and strong relationships also mean that teachers really know each child, and the children know they have someone to turn to. For example, with 12 nationalities in the team, there is always a person our students can talk to in their native language. We make sure every student feels secure, valued, and supported—so they can focus on growing and thriving in a safe, welcoming environment.

Safety isn’t just about physical security—it’s also about creating an environment where students feel emotionally secure and confident to express themselves.

3. I was not heard

Many parents felt disconnected from their child’s previous school and were unable to communicate concerns or provide input into their child’s education.

At REAL School, we believe that education is a partnership between the school and the family. We encourage regular, open communication between parents, educators, and school leadership to ensure that each child’s needs are met.

Parents are not just observers in their child’s education—they are active participants. Whether it’s through regular feedback, parent-teacher discussions, or involvement in school projects, we ensure that parents have a voice in shaping their child’s learning journey. This approach not only strengthens the student’s experience but also builds a stronger, more cohesive school community.

Why REAL School?

At REAL School, we take pride in creating a learning environment that is centred on the well-being of the whole child—mind, body, and heart. Our core values of passion, equity, authenticity, and excellence (PEACE) drive us to create a space where every child can flourish and feel confident in themselves and their learning.

If your child is unhappy, feels unsafe, or if you feel your voice as a parent isn’t being heard, perhaps it’s time to explore a school where every child—and every parent—matters.
